My Email Blast sent zero emails…
The first thing you should do when you see this is stay calm. There are several reasons why an email blast you “send” will say it’s actually sent zero emails, or that it’s sent fewer emails than your total processed number. So let’s see why!
Are you using your own SMTP?
If you’ve opted to use your own SMTP instead of Charley’s, it may be possible that the something went wrong in the set up. Be sure to go to your settings and check that you’ve updated the proper ports, username, and password.
My Recycler sent zero emails!
This is actually a great “problem” to have – that means your initial email was opened by everyone. Congrats!
It sent fewer emails than it processed…huh?
No worries – this is actually quite normal, especially if you have a list of thousands and you’ve sent a few mailings already. Here’s what’s happening:
- People who unsubscribe to the global opt out: If you have people who opted to opt out from all mailings, or if you’ve entered some folks manually into the global opt-out, they’ll still be displayed as subscribed in the list (but they won’t receive an email that you send). This will account for some of the people who are processed but actually don’t receive an email.
- Multiple Mailing Lists used for an Email Blast: It’s quite possible that people appear on multiple lists. If you happened to pick a few lists for your mailing and people who up multiple times, remember they only receive the email once. So while their email address may be processed multiple times, the actual send is only once.
